CES is like a week long thrill ride, speeding past the shining demonstrations and displays of the futuristic technology all too fast. There is never enough time to see everything, or to linger long enough on what is seen. For professional tech writers ("media"), it starts today, Sunday, with four hours of classroom sessions reviewing the previous year in consumer electronics and previewing the products that will be on display at the show this year. Starting at 5 PM Las Vegas time, "CES Unveiled" is a press party with fantastic food and refreshment, which is almost ignored by the attendees in favor of the hundreds of vendors showing their new products, many of which are being exposed to the light for the first time. Any Tech writer would rather be there than any place in the world, or they are in the wrong line of work.
On day two and three, the media are treated to Press Conferences from any company wishing to have concepts reported to the interested public. Some of these events are spectacular, by invitation only, with lavish gifts, food, premium production values and celebrity appearances. Samsung, LG,
