Rockies Swept in L.A., Losing Finale in 10, 4-3

Monday, April 28, 2007. The Rockies lost their third straight and 7th of the last 8 games Sunday with an extra-inning loss to the Dodgers. With the defeat, Colorado fell 8 games behind the only team in the division with a winning record, Arizona.

It was a familiar story for the Rockies, who dropped to 1-4 in extra inning games, as the relief pitching, in the form of Manny Corpus, failed to hold the victors, while Rockies batters couldn't capitalize on plenty of opportunities. Former phenom Troy Tulowitzki epitomized the disaster as he continued to drop his batting average, now at .157, hitting into a double play with the bases loaded in the 8th inning. His other  4 hitless attempts didn't help much, either, as he left a total of 6 runners on base for the game. His teammates managed to blow another 15 runners for a total of 21, branding a 1-run game as easily winnable.

Jeff Frances pitched brilliantly again and was rewarded with the best the team could offer, a no-decision.

Next, Colorado hopes to stop the slump by going north San Francisco to play a team that was predicted to be the worst in baseball, but is currently ahead of Colorado in the standings.
